Wild Onion / Wild Garlic (Photos)
Plants have a strong onion-like odors. Prepare the bulb
and greens like commercial varieties. Avoid any similar
plants that lack onion odor since some are poisonous.

Wild Onion Characteristics:

  • Flowers vary in color depending on the species and are in a large, globular flower head.
  • Bulb has reticulated (net like) membrane or covering.
  • Leaves occur from the base of the plant, and tend to be flat (not hollow).

Wild Garlic Characteristics:

  • Leaves are hollow, and tend to be formed higher on the stem
    (not where stem comes out of the ground).
  • Bulb is covered by thin, whitish papery membrane.
